Joel Harrison is one of the leading authorities in the world of fine spirits, with nearly two decades at the forefront of whisky and global drinks culture. 

 

An award-winning writer, presenter and consultant, he combines deep technical knowledge with a rare ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity. A published author of multiple award-winning books on whisky, gin, spirits and cocktails, translated globally, his writing has been recognised at the highest level within the drinks world. Joel is a contributor to a number of global titles including The Times, The Telegraph, Decanter, World of Fine Spirits, and Club Oenologique, his voice carries significant weight across the industry.

 

Joel’s work extends well beyond print: a seasoned presenter and host, he has appeared across major television and radio platforms internationally, led tastings for private clients, global brands and institutions including the Royal Household, and developed educational content  for WSET.

 

His authority is further underscored by a wealth of industry recognition: a Keeper of the Quaich (the highest honour in Scotch

whisky), member of the Compagnie des Mousquetaires d’Armagnac and the Gin Guild, as well as a Freeman of the City of London and member of the Worshipful Company of Distillers.

 

In 2026 Joel was recognised as the Icon of Whisky Communicator of Year at the World Whisky Awards, and as The Drinks Writer of the Year at the Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards.
